A suggestion came in from Allan that Mr X could be Philip Rambow.
Philip is a Canadian singer who fronted the Winkies in the 70s. I haven’t managed to connect Philip directly to Bowie but he’s certainly worked with some of David’s collaborators. Philip has worked with Brian Eno, Mick Ronson and Lou Reed.
